The Poison to Venom is a 200 page photographic book by James Sharrock documenting his journey with Bullet For My Valentine from their beginnings in 2005 right up to 2015. James will be launching a crowdfunder campaign 26 April to generate enough funds to put the book into production. His aim is to print 1000 editions only. The only place you’ll be able to buy this book is from James exclusively and the crowdfunder. There will be a regular version of the book and a deluxe version with some limited edition prints and a few other special pieces.

“ I met Bullet in 2005, I had just moved to London from Australia to shoot for Kerrang! One of my first shoots was for a news feature with a new band from Wales who were clearly going places. The guys had just finished recording The Poison and they were just getting started. I didn’t know it, but I was shooting one of the UK’s most successful metal bands since Iron Maiden. Between 2005 and 2015 I shot many features and we traveled the world together, and I even directed two music videos - for Raising Hell and Army of Noise.

The Poison to Venom documents two stories: the story of a band, and a story about people. We shared the same humour, and in turn they trusted me to hold a camera up to many intimate and important moments. I was a witness to Bullet’s incredible rise to fame - from tiny venues to top billing at festivals to front covers. It was a rollercoaster. I also saw Bullet’s transformation from young, hopeful metalheads to globally recognised stars - we hit Siberia, Columbia, and everywhere in between. It was an incredible journey and I’m excited to share it with you.

With the help of some of the best art directors in the magazine world I’m making two versions of The Poison to Venom - a standard and a deluxe boxed version. It’s a little different to any other music photography book you’ve seen before. There are different rewards available, from limited posters to the full deluxe version depending on how and if you’d like to support the project. I’m also offering the chance to spend some time with me to share all I’ve learnt from my 20+ years of experience with you.

My aim is to raise enough funds to do a one off run of 1000 and be able to put into production something unique and special for all the Bullet For My Valentine fans worldwide. If we pass our goal I’ll cut together a short documentary feature to go along with the project and provide a private link to all the people who have supported the book”
